Personal Biography

Stephen began as a paralegal at his father's law firm and before beginning the practice of law, he worked for over 16 years in the insurance industry as a claims representative. He handled a wide variety of claims, including fiduciary and bond claims, entertainment claims, excess and umbrella claims, floor plan and garage keepers claims, property and liability claims, construction claims, coverage analysis, and presenting numerous contractual indemnity liability lecture programs for contractors and construction companies.

Stephen was also involved in rewriting the rules for special arbitration used by a myriad of insurance companies to resolve inter-company disputes, and helped supervise mold remediation programs in public schools and courthouses located throughout the Southern Texas region.

During his studies at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Stephen served as an intern at the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Stephen also is Oil Field Rig certified through Texas A&M University. This certification relates to claims involving oil field production, from storage to long haul transport, as well as pumping and processing of crude oil. He is also a two-time United Way Travis Award Winner for his accomplishments in creating community support and participation in the United Way programs.
