Forrest Merithew received his B.A. degree from Tulane University in 2004, in Political Science and Environmental Studies, and his J.D. degree from University of San Diego School of Law in 2009. While at University of San Diego School of Law, Forrest was an active member of the Student Bar Association, Vice-President of the Environmental Law Society, competing team member in the Hong Kong division and subsequent coach for the Vis Moot International Arbitration Competition, and a founding member and articles editor of USD's new Journal on Climate and Energy Law, the first of its kind in the country
His work with USD's Environmental Clinic, including oral presentation to the Oceanside City Council and the drafting and filing of a Writ in San Diego County Superior Court, secured a settlement on behalf of his clients protecting the Loma Alta Creek from the development of a concrete plant on its banks. He also received the prestigious CALI award for his paper on the Potential Commercialization of Canada’s Freshwater Resources.
He grew up in a construction family on the east coast and has been involved with the industry his whole life. In his practice, Mr. Merithew would like to include municipal law, water law, green building issues, energy development and other related environmental legal issues to the firm's comprehensive construction law, civil and business litigation, premises and products liability, and contract and risk analysis work.
In his free time, he enjoy the outdoors any way he can, including snowboarding, surfing, beach volleyball, camping, hiking, and documenting it all through travel writing. He believes in a sustainable balance of responsible outdoor use for all recreational and development activities in the hopes of providing future generations with the same opportunities.
